Mission
The 812 was founded in 2021 with one simple mission: to communicate positive stories about the people, places, and events that makes Southeastern Indiana our home to you, our neighbors and viewers.
Your Hometown News
The 812 covers Ripley, Franklin, Decatur, Dearborn, Switzerland and Ohio Counties. From students doing good in their community to local businesses defying the odds, we want to showcase what actually matters to you. We are the biggest fans of our community, and while we love appealing to our current neighbors, we also want to promote Southeastern Indiana to those who are considering making it their home in the future.
A Local Resource
While the local news is at the heart of The 812, we are so much more than that. Between The 812 Shop, where you can find local goods, to the Community Calendar, where you can find all the great things happening in Southeastern Indiana, we are truly the digital agora of our community.
Beyond The Stories
We take great pride in storytelling, but also serving as a connector of people. We love to connect people to causes. Since launching in 2021, we have raised over $50,000 for our neighbors in need.
