A total of 4 baby boxes now in Ripley County
(VERSAILLES, Ind.) -- Two Safe Haven Baby Boxes were dedicated in Ripley County this weekend.
The first dedication was held at Versailles EMS which is located at 727 West Hopewell Road.
Milan EMS also unveiled a Safe Haven Baby Box at their station which is located at 212 Maple Street. A blessing ceremony was held at both locations Saturday.
There are now four Safe Haven Baby Boxes in Ripley County. The first was installed at Margaret Mary Health and Sunman EMS recently installed one of their own.

Since 2017, 31 babies have been to surrendered to Safe Haven Baby Boxes. There are now 151 boxes installed across the country.
Safe Haven Baby Boxes are installed to provide a last-resort for new mothers. The goal is to prevent illegal abandonment of newborns. All Safe Haven Baby Boxes are electronically monitored and are equipped to notify 9-1-1 as soon as the outer door is open.
