Volunteer firefighters saved drowning child
(FRIENDSHIP, Ind.) – A little boy is safe this morning thanks to volunteer firefighters in his community.
A 3-year-old was found unresponsive in a pool on October 7 and Friendship firefighters responded within moments of the call.
The boy was later aircared to a Cincinnati hospital where he spent several days before being released.
The boy, named Franklin, and his family stopped by to thank the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday night.
Saving Franklin was a joint effort but one that Fire Chief Keith Sieverding says required all hands on deck.
"Thanks to Ripley County Communications, Ripley County Sherriff's Department, Ripley County EMS, Air Methods Bedord Kentucky 11 and the team at the hospital for making this miracle happen," Sieverding said.
