812 to launch a fundraiser for victims
(GREENSBURG, Ind,) – Seven people were injured after a car slammed into the outdoor patio area of a downtown Greensburg restaurant on Tuesday night.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. at Carriage On The Square which is located on Broadway Street.
One witness was eating at the restaurant when the car came barreling in.
“The car hit us from behind, there were two people trapped under the car,” she told The 812.
She credits a quick response by Greensburg firefighters for helping those victims.
We’ve also learned that a Greensburg police officer assisted victims by applying a tourniquet.
“All victims were extricated by the Greensburg Fire Department and transported to medical facilities for further treatment,” city officials confirmed.
Greensburg Police identified the driver of the vehicle as 83-year-old Cloe Duncan, who some may remember as the longtime Indiana State Representative.
Investigators added that Duncan was among those transported to the hospital.
The incident remains under investigation Wednesday morning.
The 812 will be launching a benefit account for all victims on Wednesday morning. This story will be updated.
