Items taken to local Blessing Boxes
(AURORA, Ind.) – Aurora Elementary students are donating 2,000 food items to help area families during Thanksgiving.
The items collected by students will go to Blessing Boxes which are located in Aurora and Lawrenceburg.
“It’s one of those things showing how important is to start kids young when it comes to giving back,” said Community Blessing Boxes organizer Ken Maddin.
The initiative didn’t end there as the elementary students also raised more than $330 for the victims of the two hurricanes that occurred earlier this fall.
The collection drive was led by Aurora teachers Ivy Schmeltzer and Shannon Gabbard.
