Batesville hunter creates turkey hunting camp for kids

Had a big response last year

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville hunter wants to give back to kids this youth turkey season.

Allen Lecher will host his second annual Youth Turkey Hunt from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

“We will be providing lunch, gifts, and prizes for all the kids who attend. We will have camo, blinds, calls, lights, hats, and much more for all,” Lecher said.

The cost is only $20 for a guided turkey hunt and $10 for a chance at the raffle.

The event includes sponsors like Yorkridge Hunt Club and Triple Oaks Outfitters.

“Also we will be giving away a gun to a lucky hunter,” Lecher said.

Lecher added that proceeds from the raffle will be given back to a local youth hunting organization.

“I'm trying to bring back a hunting camp as I used to have as a kid. Where you went to check-in stations and got to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family,” he said.
