Batesville Rotary gifts dictionaries to SLS third graders

Annual donation to St. Louis students

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Batesville Rotary Club made a donation to some elementary students this week.

They presented dictionaries to third graders at St. Louis School.

Third grade teacher Rebecca Hardebeck says the timing couldn’t have been better, as the kids have been reading a book called “Frindle.”

The book is about creating a new word for pen, and getting it into the dictionary.

“While students were exploring their new dictionaries, they began to notice some of our spelling words.  These dictionaries have also inspired our students to discover new words and have been a great help in learning to spell difficult words,” Hardebeck said.

The Batesville Rotary Club has an annual tradition of delivering dictionaries to third graders at St. Louis.
