Bulldogs beat Tri-West in thriller
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Batesville Bulldogs won their first Regional football title since 1986 on Friday.
The Bulldogs hosted Tri-West and the scoring began with a rushing TD by quarterback Will Jaisle.
Tri-West scored two unanswered touchdowns and took a 20-14 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs played from behind the majority of the second half and were down 37-35 with less than a minute to go in the game.
With less than 20 seconds remaining, the team was within 15 yards of the endzone but needed some magic to take their first lead since the first quarter.
Jaisle threw a slant pass to Damien Dance who made an incredible catch in the end zone with 11 seconds to go.
The Bulldogs held off Tri-West to secure the Regional championship with a 41-37 victory.
Both teams shook hands before head coach Evan Ulery spoke to the team.
That was followed by Batesville students storming the field to celebrate with the team.
The Bulldogs will now travel to Santa Claus, Indiana to face Heritage Hills in the Semi-State next weekend.
