Benefit ride for West Harrison family who lost home in 2023 fire

Watch The 812's report from April of 2023:

(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) – A West Harrison family had their lives turned upside down when their home caught fire in April of 2023.

The home on Sharpton Road was completely destroyed and they are now rebuilding.

Bob Hoffman, and his wife, Pat, had taken in more than 50 foster children over the years.

They said their house was build to provide a welcoming place for children in foster care.

Bob is known in the Brookville area for being a longtime Franklin County school bus driver. Pat also worked as a bus driver at one point. The day after the fire, Bob even showed up for work and drove his bus the next morning.

In order to help as they rebuild, there will be a benefit ride on Saturday, October 12.

“We are trying to get the rest of this house finished before Christmas time! What is left is plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, drywall and finishing,” said their daughter, Alexandrea.

The ride welcomes jeeps, cars and other vehicles and costs only $20 each.

It will start and end at the AMVETS which is located at 515 S. State Street in West Harrison.
