BHS football makes card for Rising Sun veteran

Veteran will celebrate 100th birthday September 14

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville football player saw a story on The 812 recently about a veteran from a different community

Rising Sun native Leroy Guard is turning 100 on September 14. He served in the Army/ Air Force in Italy in World War II.

In advance of his birthday, his family is asking community members to surprise Leroy by mailing birthday cards. 

Bulldog senior Damien Dance has never met Guard, but felt compelled to do something. 

On Thursday, the entire team signed two cards that they will mail to Guard in advance of his birthday. 

Birthday cards can be mailed to 220 S. Poplar Street Apartment 5  in Rising Sun, Indiana 47040.
