All of Southeast Indiana is now under a burn ban
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A burn ban is now in effect for all of Southeast Indiana.
Decatur County Commissioners issued their burn ban on Wednesday.
It is due to the lack of rainfall which has led to the increased risk of out-of-control fires.
A burn ban means open fires are prohibited. Only enclosed fires, such as grilling or fire pits, are allowed.
Decatur County Commissioners said a violation can result in a fine between $200 and $1,000.
Ripley County also issued a burn ban earlier Wednesday. Other counties that have current burn bans include Dearborn, Franklin, Fayette, Ohio and Switzerland counties.
