Christmas came early for Speranza House

Speranza House will receive $60,000 from the Foundation

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Decatur County Community Foundation announced that Speranza House will be recipient of their first Capital Project Grant.

Speranza House will receive $60,000 from the Foundation to help purchase a second recovery residence.

Speranza opened their first house in October of 2018. Since then, they have reached over 96

women and impacted more than 192 children. Of those women, 82% remain in active recovery.

Most of their graduates remain in Decatur County and become valuable employees. One of the very first graduates is now the program director.

Speranza’s second house will be located on Broadway Street and will undergo extensive

rehabilitation. Once completed, Speranza will be able to house 15 women at once. This home

will house women going through the first phases of recovery as it is larger and has space for a

classroom.

“The Community Foundation is excited to present the first capital project grant to a very deserving organization that serves a need in our community and does well at it. We look forward to following the rehabilitation of the home and hearing the stories of those whose lives are forever changed thanks to Speranza House," said DCCF executive director Tami Wenning.

If your organization is interested in a capital project grant please visit the DCCF website to learn more about the criteria (www.dccfound.org) or contact Grants Manager, Gracie Maxwell-Shonk.
