Columbus Police: Elementary student threatened school violence Monday

"We are not the only community experiencing these types of threats for Monday."

UPDATE: Columbus Police officers arrested a female juvenile on Sunday evening in connection to the alleged threats. She was taken to the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center for intimidation and false informing

"Even with the arrest, we are still coordinating with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police to ensure safety at all Bartholomew County schools tomorrow," the police department said.

(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – Columbus Police are investigating after a school shooting threat at Parkside Elementary. 

The investigation began Friday night after an elementary student allegedly made online threats about gun violence at the school on Monday. 

Police confirm that the student will not be attending school while the investigation continues. There will also be additional officers at all Bartholomew County schools starting tomorrow. 

“It’s important to note that we are not the only community experiencing these types of threats for Monday. We have and will continue to address these threats with the utmost seriousness,” the police department said.
