Lawrenceburg City Council member in Normandy

(NORMANDY) – Lawrenceburg native Brett Bondurant lost both of his legs during an IED blast in Southwest Kandahar Province in Afghanistan on Sept. 28, 2011.
The Army Specialist’s story didn’t end there. He now serves as a Lawrenceburg City Councilmember.
Today, Brett is in Normandy along with the Greatest Generation Foundation for the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6.
He describes being in Normandy as a humbling and emotional experience.
“They love the American soldier and are very grateful for the service and sacrifice of our WW2 veterans. We are here with multiple D-Day veterans who walk us through their movements on June 6, 1944 and still tell stories about that day like it was yesterday,” Bondurant told The 812.

Bondurant added that the guys he is with are World War II soldiers who range in age from 98 to 104.
Brett is an American hero and so are those WWII veterans who fought back against evil. Thank you protecting us and the sacrifices you made on D-Day 1944 will never be forgotten!
