DCF gives $1K grant to St. Vincent de Paul

Part of Proactive Grant initiative

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Dearborn Community Foundation is awarding a $1K grant to St. Vincent de Paul.

The Proactive Grant is an initiative where each DCF board member selects nonprofit for a grant.

DCF Board Member Jon Strautman selected St. Vincent de Paul and the money will be used to computerize record keeping at the Dearborn County branch.

“They are currently using an old desktop and donated laptop. Updating the record-keeping system will speed up the process, and better assist the neighbors,” said Strautman. “St. Vincent de Paul has been a ministry of our church for decades; good people doing great work, totally voluntarily.”

St. Vincent de Paul in Dearborn County operates from St. Mary’s Church, 210 Fifth St., Aurora.

Its pantry serves an average 25 households weekly in Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties.

The organization also provides emergency financial assistance to help with rent, utilities, and gas cards for medical appointments. It now needs bath towels, pots, pans, and men’s T-shirts - XL and larger.

They rely on weekly donations from parishioners as well as other local churches. Donations should be sent to St. Mary’s SVDP Society, P.O. Box 22, Aurora IN 47001. St. Vincent de Paul’s website is https://www.stmaryscc.org/saint-vincent-de-paul.
