DCMH Athlete of the Week: Cooper McCalvin

He is a great baseball and basketball player

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Greensburg third grader has been nominated for the DCMH Athlete of the Week honors

8-year–old Cooper McCalvin is a dual sport athlete who is making a difference on the court and the diamond.

His close friends tell us that Cooper really loves baseball and he steps up for his team by playing several different positions. He’s a utility player that catches, pitches, plays first base and even covers the hot corner at third!

McCalvin has been busy recently on the hardwood as he plays for the Greensburg third grade Dirt Road League team.

Cooper is admired for being a great teammate on the Pirates third grade team.

His success is a result of hard work at home and also being in a competitive environment, as he often competes against his dad and brother.

Cooper is also making a difference outside of sports as he is getting good grades and is even on the Honor Roll at Greensburg Elementary!

“He just really loves to help people and he has a really big heart,” a close friend told The 812.

Congratulations to Cooper McCalvin for being this week’s DCMH Athlete of the Week!

Here's some photos of him playing baseball:
