DCMH celebrate Veterans during several events

Honoring those who show courage and bravery

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Decatur County Memorial Hospital, originally dedicated as a memorial to those who served in World War I, proudly honored Veterans this Veterans Day weekend through a series of impactful events.

In partnership with the American Legion Post 129 and Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, DCMH assisted in organizing a weekend of community activities to recognize and express gratitude for our Veterans.

On Saturday, festivities began with the 'Walk with a Hero' campaign, which invited local youth to participate in the annual parade alongside Veterans. This initiative aimed to foster a meaningful connection between generations and bring the community closer to those who have served.

Starting at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home at 11, the parade proceeded to the south side of the square, where a brief ceremony took place near the flag poles.

Following the ceremony, DCMH hosted a complimentary lunch at the American Legion Post 129, with food generously prepared by CP Tavern.

As our country continues the tradition of honoring our Veterans, our community was invited to join DCMH for a moment of reflection on Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. and to participate in a moment of silence, share messages of gratitude, or find a unique way to pay tribute to the invaluable contributions of our Veterans on their own.

“Together, let us remember and celebrate the selflessness of those who have safeguarded our freedoms and made lasting sacrifices for our nation,” said Rex McKinney, DCMH CEO/President at the Veterans Lunch.
