DCMH hosts inaugural Women’s Health Expo

Attendees were given free health assessments, scheduled appointments

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – More than 100 women attended the inaugural Women’s Health Expo at Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) on March 2.

It was held at the newly-opened state-of-the-art Rehabilitation & Medical Offices Building.

The Expo provided attendees with an opportunity to experience a range of free health screenings and services. Over three hours, more than 120 patients received various assessments, including Thyroid Function Tests, Vitamin Deficiency Tests, Rehab Assessments, Skin Cancer Screenings, Mental Health Assessments, Sleep Assessments, Lipid Panels, and A1C tests.

These screenings were made possible by the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County (Foundation), Honda, Selking International, Standard Fertilizer, and Centra Credit Union.

Many attendees also had the opportunity to schedule appointments for heart and/or

lung scans at a reduced price. Participants could schedule pap smears and mammograms and receive referrals to specialized services such as DCMH Sleep Clinic, DCMH Rehabilitation Services, DCMH Behavioral & Mental Health Services, Centerstone, and Forefront Dermatology.

“The Women’s Health Expo coincided with Women’s History Month as a way to celebrate women, women’s health, and help support healthcare initiatives for women by offering free screenings,” said Liz McCoy, Manager of Marketing & Communication of DCMH.

“We plan to offer the Expo event each year along with our two other free screening events, Healthy Fair and Men’s Tailgate,” she added.

Beyond the medical services offered, there were activities including nail painting, hair tinsel

applications, permanent jewelry installations, and guided tours of the new building.

The event’s success was made possible by the dedication of over 50 DCMH employees

who volunteered their time and expertise to ensure a memorable and impactful experience for all attendees.

“We are proud to continue offering free and discounted screenings to our community

through events like the Women’s Health Expo,” said Rex McKinney, CEO/President of

DCMH. “We are meeting the needs of our community by making healthcare more

accessible and removing barriers to quality care.”
