The project has been selected for Indiana State Fair
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- A 12-year-old was inspired by a recent police pursuit that traveled through Decatur County.
A suspect allegedly stole a school bus in Cincinnati and led officers on a multi-state pursuit that ended in a Shelby County cornfield.
4-H member Marvin Mauer decided he would recreate the scene for his county fair project.
It got the attention of Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh along with some of the officers who were involved in the pursuit.
On Monday, officers with the Greensburg Police Department, Decatur County Sheriff's Office and St. Paul Police Department stopped by the exhibit to meet with Mauer.
His project was awarded grand champion and Mauer has been selected to submit the project at the Indiana State Fair.
