Decatur Co. students get insight into future careers

More than 60 local employers attended

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Students from each high school in Decatur County attended the annual Opportunity Expo on Wednesday.

The juniors and seniors met with representatives from various careers and colleges along with military recruiters.

Students also received the opportunity to improve their resume while learning about important life skills such as budgeting and retirement planning.

Employers came to the expo with 60 full-time positions, 30 internships, 15 job shadow opportunities, and numerous part-time positions.

"We see this event as a win-win for our students and local businesses," said Wes Anderson, Public Relations and Community Development Manager for Greensburg Community Schools.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with employers in our area about how their future careers might take shape."

Anderson added that this was a great opportunity for students who will graduate and enter the workforce.

“We want to be able to facilitate these kinds of connections between Greensburg area businesses and our graduates,” he said.

Students from GCHS, North Decatur and South Decatur attended the Opportunity Expo which was held at Greensburg High School.
