Students met with mayor and others
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Greensburg Elementary second graders are getting the chance to learn about civics and local government.
The class visited the mayor's office, police department and fire department.
"Students were provided with a firsthand view of local governance, gaining insight into the roles and responsibilities of our city officials and asking questions about our community and city services," the City of Greensburg said.
Police officers also discussed what they use on duty, safety protocols, and gave a tour of a police car.
Greensburg firefighters gave students the chance to try out equipment, explore fire trucks, and learn fire safety while at home and at school.
