Gave back to two Sunman organizations
(SUNMAN, Ind.) – The family of a beloved local business owner is making a difference in his honor.
Tom Klump passed away at the age of 63 last summer. He owned Klump Excavating & Construction and was a lifelong resident of New Alsace.
His family hosted the inaugural Tom Klump Memorial Ride this summer.
On Saturday, family members stopped by two Sunman organizations to deliver the proceeds from the memorial ride.
The Klump family donated $10,000 to the Sunman Rural Fire Department and another $5,000 to the Sunman American Legion.
“We couldn’t have done it without our amazing community and all of the people that stand behind us,” his daughter-in-law, Julia, said. “We miss him more than anything in this world, but we are so happy and honored to be able to make a difference in his name and memory.”
The family is currently in the process of creating scholarships for students going into the trades or starting their own business.
