Toddler digested pill at Dearborn County business, family said
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The family of Azana Trentman said that the toddler has tragically passed away.
Through her passing, Azana was able to help three other children through organ donation.
“Austen and I are completely filled with love from the support you all have shown us. We cannot thank you enough for the prayers and kind words sent our way,” her mother, Shayna, said.
“Azana Kay Grace Trentman - nothing I say will ever truly emphasize the absolute pure angel we were gifted from God himself,” she added.
The 18-month-old digested a suboxone pill at a Dearborn County business on Wednesday, according to the family.
Her father, Austen, said he tasted the substance she ate and it had a melted candy consistency. He cleared her throat and she acted normal on the car ride home.
Shortly after, she developed symptoms that led to her being rushed to St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital and later transferred to Cincinnati Children’s.
Her grandmother, Deirdre Trentman, says Azana was the happiest, most joyful little girl.
“She loves Cinderella, kitty cats and horses. She and her daddy danced everyday to the oldie song, California Dreaming. We have so many videos of her dancing to that song,” Deirdre told The 812.
On Tuesday morning, Azana’s family is thanking the team at Cincinnati Children’s as well as community members.
“We are so blessed with the village we have and do not have any idea where we would be if we didn’t have them surrounding us,” they said.
Azana is the daughter of Army veterans Shayna Wood and Austen Trentman, who live in Manchester.
The family is asking for continues privacy today and say they will share funeral arrangement information in the near future.
