Fans vote 2 local students as Athlete of the Week

Archer and Johnson win the Week 6 honor

(SOUTHEAST INDIANA) -- Two local student-athletes received the MaxPreps Indiana Athlete of the Week honor.

MaxPreps nominates several athletes each week based on their statistics that week. It is then up to the fans to selected from the nominees on who will be given the award.

For Week 6, local fans came through to support Switzerland County and South Decatur athletes.

Pacers soccer player Halle Archer recently accomplished 200 career points with 16 goals in wins over Southwestern, Austin, Shawe Memorial and Corydon Central. The senior now has 83 career goals and 47 career assists.

Cougars running back Corbin Johnson had a breakout performance against Cloverdale when the junior rushed for 375 yards and four touchdowns in the South Decatur win. Johnson has carried the ball 76 times for 1,119 yards and 18 TDs in six games.

Archer and Johnson were two of three Indiana athletes to receive the Week 6 honor.
