Winner will be announced later this school year
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- There are five students who are finalists for Decatur County’s
2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
The Decatur County Community Foundation oversees the competitive process which started with 60 student who applied at the beginning of the school year.
A committee evaluated students on academics, leadership, and personal attitude based on community involvement, school activities, and work experience.
A second committee of two volunteers from outside the county scored the essays.
The finalists are four Greensburg students and one North Decatur senior.
Addie Gauck represents North Decatur and the other four finalists are Lilly Corya, Emma Leap, Cooper Williams, and Janae Comer.
Scores will now sent to the Independent Colleges of Indiana to formally determine a winner.
The top student will receive full tuition to an Indiana college along with a $900 book stipend.
The four remaining semi-finalists will receive a $5,000 DCCF Community Scholarship.
A formal announcement is expected to be in December.
