Firefighters save 2 condos during Hidden Valley fire

Updated: 6 hours ago

Happened Saturday morning

(HIDDEN VALLEY, Ind.) — Firefighters mitigated damage during an intense multi-family condo fire in the Hidden Valley area this weekend.

Crews were called to the complex on Fairway Drive around 3:50 a.m. Saturday and didn't wrap up operations until 1 p.m. that day.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke pouring out of two of the four units and quickly called for additional agencies.

“In the end we had called crews from Miller York, St. Leon Fire, along with Bright’s two tankers to provide water to the scene. This heavily populated area does not have adequate hydrants available,” Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart said.

Once additional water sources were established, firefighters worked to put out the fire in the two units. Those two units have been deemed a total loss.

Eberhart says the fire could have easily spread to the other two units.

“Words cannot describe the job they did and efforts it took to pull this off. I want people to see and understand what goes into a structure fire - the man power needed, the equipment, and the time,” Eberhart said.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt during the incident.

Firefighters are also thanking Logan Supermarket and some other community members who brought food and drinks during the event.

“Also, to the family that bought a large amount of food from McDonald's and brought it to the scene and then to the station. We could not do this without the support of our community,” he said.

Some other agencies involved included Lawrenceburg, Miami Township, Whitewater Township, Harrison Fire and Aurora Fire.
