Former JCD standout honored to be named to Ripley County Hall of Fame

Kelly will be the third member of her family inducted

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – A former Jac-Cen-Del standout will be the third member of her family inducted into the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame.

Tara (Borgman) Kelly led the Lady Eagles to back-to-back sectional championships and received numerous awards including being named an Indiana Girls Top 100 selection.

The 1997 graduate would go on to have a stellar career at Franklin College and remains on the school’s all-time list for career three-point percentage.

When she looks back at those high school years, she says it isn’t the wins or accolades that standout, but rather her teammates.

“We had a very good group of girls that just wanted to play for each other and win. I still have close friendships with most of them still today, and it was pretty cool to win and get those championships with friends,” Kelly said.

She will join her father and brother in the basketball hall of fame when she is inducted in April. Her father, Tom Borgman, graduated from Jac-Cen-Del in 1969 and her brother, Brad,  graduated from the school in 1999.

“I am very humbled and blessed to share the honor with my dad and brother. Basketball runs very deep in our family and to see all the work pay off is truly humbling,” she said.

Kelly is one of nine inductees who will be honored during the  Ripley County Boys Basketball Tournament at South Ripley on January 11. There will be an official induction ceremony in April.
