Grant was created in 2015
(MILAN, Ind.) – Four Milan seniors are getting assistance when it comes to paying for college.
Ellie Knecht, Ben Riehle, Riley Schwipps, and Trenton Langferman have been awarded the Mortara Family Grant.
Recipients of the grant receive up to $10,000 a year for four years towards pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university.
The four seniors had to have at least a 3.9 GPA, submit an essay and go through an interview process.
The Mortara Family Grant was created by the family of Dr. David Mortara in 2015. He was a 1958 Milan graduate who became the founder and President of Mortara Instrument, a medical technology company that designs, manufactures, and distributes equipment worldwide.
He is a leader in the field of electrocardiography (EKG) and throughout his career has made significant contributions to cardiology.
Dr. Mortara attributes much of his success to the Milan community, who supported and facilitated his educational accomplishments.
The scholarship is intended to extend similar opportunities to exceptional Milan students pursuing a 4-year degree.
