Community invited to attend Wednesday morning
(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A Franklin County Middle School student took it upon herself to expand an annual prayer event at her school.
An initiative called “See You At The Pole” is a global day of student prayer which began in 1990 in Texas.
The annual event will take place on the morning of Wednesday, September 25.
Seventh grader Moriah Kolb had a conversation with her mom about potentially bringing together both Franklin County high school and middle school students for the prayer event.
“Maybe we could get it so big that we can move it to the football field, and I thought it would be really cool to see if it was possible,” Kolb told The 812.
She emailed the idea to middle and high school sponsors Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and they forwarded it to the Athletic Director and Principals.
Without any hesitation, school administrators gave their approval and it ‘See You At The Pole’ will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on the Wildcats football field this Wednesday.
Who is invited? Everyone! That includes students, teachers and community members who just want to stop by.
“It doesn’t matter if you go to church or not. Everyone is welcome and we hope there is a big crowd,” Kolb said.
There will be donuts and juice available, along with prayer and music. Kolb and her older brother will also perform a few songs.
English teacher Hollie Noah says she is not surprised by Moriah’s leadership and outwardness when it comes to showing her faith.
“Moriah saw the vision and ran with it. I think that is what is needed to make the world a better place, and that is to not only dream for it or want it, but to move on it,” Noah said.
The teacher reiterated that this is a non-denominational event and it’s an opportunity to pray for our nation, schools and each other.
“It’s not a Baptist thing, a Methodist or Catholic thing, this is a God thing. And we are coming together to pray for each other and build each other up,” Noah said.
We asked Kolb what advice she would have for other students her age who have similar ideas.
“Don’t be afraid. You are doing it for the Lord and for people to come to know him and get closer in their faith,” Kolb said.
