From Middle School to Fashion Shows: Local teen following her dream

Has more than 150K Instagram followers

(BRIGHT, Ind.) – An East Central Middle School student enjoys being a typical small town girl, but the experiences she is getting are far from normal.

Elyse Hofer gets good grades, plays basketball,  and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.

She also enjoys traveling but the trips she takes on a regular basis aren’t just for enjoyment.

Hofer is a model and has walked the runway in places such as Dubai, Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles.

She attends those trips with her parents, Michelle and Mitch, and the family makes time to explore the different cultures and sites in those places.

Elyse began her modeling career pageantry as a young girl and she won Little Miss America in 2019.

FLASHBACK: The 812 first met Elyse when she was a fifth grader at Bright Elementary in 2022.

A few years ago, her brother mentioned that she should create an Instagram account. That’s when clothing brands began to reach out and offered her apparel in exchange for her modeling them.

The young model now has an Instagram account with more than 153,000 followers!

Clothing, skin care and perfume brands are now paying her to promote their products on social media, and she gets to keep everything she is sent.

“One of my favorite parts about being a model on social media is all the friends I’ve met from around the country and the world,” Elyse said.

One thing is clear about Elyse. Her success comes from her strong drive and work ethic. It takes a significant amount of time to not only attend photo shoots, but to also manage the brand she is building.

“I’ve had to miss out on things at school so I can be at photoshoots which can take eight hours to complete,” she said.

She is also the youngest model at nearly every fashion show she attends. Elyse is 5 '10 " so the clothes she is modeling are for adults.

Her eighth grade classmates are aware of her unique job and Elyse says many are very supportive of it.

“They always ask to borrow my clothes,” she laughed.

When she is in school, she enjoys being a typical student and doesn’t put a lot of thought into what she wants to do in the future.

“Honestly I don’t know what I want to do in the future, I think something possibly in fashion, but right now I am just living in the moment,” Elyse told The 812.
