Fundraiser established for Metamora shop that caught fire

Updated: Oct 3

Mr. Fudge's Confectionary has been in business since 1975

(METAMORA, Ind.) — A fundraiser has been launched after beloved longtime shop in Metamora caught fire this past weekend.

Mr. Fudge’s Confectionary caught fire on Friday evening and a quick response by firefighters mitigated the damage.

The shop has been in business since 1975, serving up handmade fudge, soda, sundaes and more on Main Street.

The scope of the damage is currently unknown, but that hasn’t stopped the community from coming together.

The shop is owned by Donna Monroe who began working there when she was 14. When the previous owner passed away, Donna found out that he had given the shop to her in his will.

The owner, Donna Monroe, had ordered a large quantity of fudge and candy ahead of the Canal Day and Christmas Walk celebrations in Metamora. However, that has all had to be discarded.

There is a fundraiser underway to help Donna through this difficult time. Click here to learn more.

Mr. Fudge’s Confectionary will celebrate 50 years in business in 2025.
