Fundraiser launched for Rush Co. man battling cancer

Family is originally from Decatur County

(RUSHVILLE, Ind.) – A fundraiser has been launched for a Rush County man battling cancer.

48-year-old Doug Koors has been fighting Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer for nearly a year.

“Unfortunately during this time hospital bills have stacked up significantly. And on Nov 1st, 2024 we found out that the cancer has become extremely progressive and can no longer be treated,” his stepdaughter, Madison Troville, said.

His wife of 17 years says he has never once complained about the devastating illness.

As for his cancer journey we knew from the beginning this would take him from us. That there was not going to be remission for him. Treatment has been about shrinking tumors and alleviating his horrible symptoms,” Beth Koors said.

A Go Fund Me has been launched to help cover hospital bills as well as funeral expenses.

“So from the bottom of my heart I ask you to donate to this gofundme so that when that time comes my stepdad’s funeral is completely covered. And for the hospital bills to be covered so my mom never has to worry about them,” Troville said.

“In the past 12 years, Doug has been the greatest stepdad any little girl could ask for. He has gone above and beyond for me, my mom, my siblings and our family. Also he is thee most selfless person you will ever meet,” she added.
