Part of fundraiser
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville sorority hosted a Pie-a-thon this past weekend.
Beta Sigma Phi made 100 pies as part of their annual fundraiser on Saturday, which consisted of apple and cherry pies that were preordered.
“The members spend one day working like an assembly line. They wash, core, peel and slice apples. Meanwhile others are rolling dough, or mixing apples with the sugar mixture, or spooning cherry pie filling into the pie shells,” said Beta Sigma Phi member Val Stutler.
Another member topped the pies with a crumb topping, which then went to a sorority sister who wrapped the pie in foil, placed it into a bag and put it in the freezer.
“The frozen pies were then picked up the next day by those who ordered the pies. Great teamwork for a small group of ladies,” Stutler added.
Beta Sigma Phi was founded in 1931 and serves as a friendship organization with the goal of participating in service projects and supporting various philanthropic endeavors.
