Batesville Police discussed dangers of impaired driving
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – St. Louis School was among the local schools who participated in Red Ribbon Week at the end of October.
Red Ribbon Week is a national effort to inform students and young adults about the dangers of drug use.
The students conducted a poster contest, received “Cardinals Live Drug-Free” bracelets, and made personal pledges to live without substance abuse.
Batesville police officers Travis Cook and Michael Manus demonstrated the dangers of driving drug with Fatal Vision goggles as well.
“This eye-opening experience helped students understand how alcohol and drugs affect coordination and decision-making,” said SLS counselor Danielle Becker.
Additionally, some students walked away with fun games as substance-free alternatives to share with their family and friends.
“All activities were made possible through a grant provided by the Coalition for a Drug-Free Batesville. It was a week of learning, reflection, and fun, and we are proud of how our students embraced the message of Red Ribbon Week,” Becker added.
