Gillman Home Center fixes customer's grill in Milan

Hoffman has rave reviews about the local store

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Milan man is raving about the customer service he recently received from Gillman Home Center in Batesville. 


Alan Hoffman decided to buy a new grill this week and wanted to shop local. He went to Gillman Home Center and purchased an $1,100 grill.


Hoffman hauled the grill home and tried to turn it on. However, he found out it wasn't working.


“I didn’t want to load it back up on my truck and haul it back to Batesville because it wasn’t turning on, so I decided to call the store,” Hoffman told The 812. 


He called the Batesville store and spoke with the store's general manager Paul Cooper. 


“Paul told me that he would come right out here to my house and he was here within 30 minutes,” Alan said. 


It turned out that the grill wasn’t broke. The battery for the igniter was turned upside down for storage purposes, which Alan didn’t realize when he was at the store. 


Cooper had the battery fixed within a couple minutes and the grill is working perfect now. 


Hoffman says the customer service and immediate response he received is something the big stores would never do. 


“I figured they wouldn’t come out here and I would have to get some friends to load the grill back up and take it to the store,” he said. “But, Paul said he would be right here and he was. I am just thankful that we have small businesses around here that would do this."


Hoffman added, “If you decide to shop at Gillman’s, they will stand behind what they sell, I can guarantee that.”
