Received their charter on Friday
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Greensburg Fire Department is joining the International Association of Firefighters and the Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana (PPFUI).
The department received their official union charter as Local 5510 on Friday afternoon.
Firefighter John Hammersmith will serve as the President of Greensburg Professional Fire Fighters Union Local 5510.
He says this is a monumental move to continue improving the department.
“We hope to build a positive relationship with the City, and we hope that they will view this as a positive going forward. Being a part of the International and State Union, we will have so many resources at hand that will benefit the Fire Department and all of those in the community that we serve,” Hammersmith told The 812.
PPFUI President Tony Murray and District Vice President Steve Hayes delivered the charter.
