Updated: Apr 24

Came upon a crash

(SHELBYVILLE, Ind.) –  A Greensburg graduate now serving as a Shelbyville police officer went above and beyond in the line of duty.

Devin Moore graduated from Greensburg in 2003 and has worked for Greensburg Police and Indianapolis Police before joining Shelbyville's police department a few years ago.

He was patrolling I-74 when he came up upon a crash on February 20.

“Officer Moore's heroic efforts were highlighted by his ability to extract both the passenger and the driver from the vehicle mere moments before it became fully engulfed in flames,” said Shelbyville police officer Michael Turner.

Officer Moore's courageous actions saved two lives before the vehicle went up in flames.

“Even with the heroic actions of Officer Moore, the male passenger unfortunately succumbed to his injuries,” the police department said.
