Greensburg’s Jackson signs with Delaware

Will compete in shot put and disc at the Division 1 school

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Pirates senior Emarie Jackson will continue her shot put career at the University of Delaware.

Jackson is ranked among the best shot put athletes in the country. She owns both the shot put and disc all-time record at Greensburg High School as well.

She became a national champion when she won the New Balance National Outdoors shot put championship in Philadelphia in June.

"I'm excited to continue my athletic journey and have the opportunity to compete at the D1 level at University of Delaware," Jackson told The 812.

She said she chose Delaware because of the family-feel from the team and the support system for student-athletes.

Jackson also says she was impressed by Delaware coach Darrell Hill who competed in the 2016 Olympics.

She said, "I have an opportunity to be coached by an Olympian. He is one of the best to ever do it and his passion for growth as an athlete and a person really appealed to me!"
