Switzerland Co. wins first-ever football sectional game
(SOUTHEAST INDIANA) -- The trip to Lucas Oil Stadium began Friday night for local teams in Southeast Indiana. Here is a recap of the games.
The defending state champion East Central cruised past Shelbyville with a 62-7 win in St. Leon. The Trojans will face Martinsville next week.
Lawrenceburg traveled to undefeated Centerville and the Tigers roared to a 40-6 victory.
The Tigers will face Batesville next week after the Bulldogs beat Rushville 35-6 on Friday.
The upset of the night was in Aurora. South Dearborn easily beat Franklin County in the regular season, however, the Wildcats returned the favor by upsetting the Knights 25-7 to advance. Franklin County will play Indian Creek next week.
Greensburg's winless season came to an end with a 49-7 loss on the road at Indian Creek.
The biggest surprise came during a sectional matchup between rivals in Decatur County. North and South squared off and the Chargers dominated the game beating South Decatur 41-3. North Decatur will face Edinburgh next week.
Milan drove up to Cambridge City and put on a clinic winning 46-0. The Indians will face either Knightstown or Tri next.
Switzerland County won a football sectional! That is the first time that has ever happened. The Pacers beat Brown County 28-21 to advance in the football playoffs Friday.
Lastly, Connersville faced Greenwood and the Spartans lost by several touchdowns.
