Evansville-area family hopes to connect with Vevay celebrity
(NEWBURGH, Ind.) -- A southern Indiana woman is battling terminal cancer and has a dying wish that involves a local resident.
Shelly Main was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer last year. Doctors are only giving her a few months to live.
"She endured chemotherapy, immunotherapy, red devil chemotherapy, and oral chemotherapy. After multiple rounds of treatment in multiple forms, nothing was enough," her son, Nic Main said.
One of Shelly's final wishes is to get a tattoo from famous artist Kat Von D, who lives in Vevay.
Her son, Nic, knows its a big ask, but has launched a Go Fund Me with the hopes of raising funds and awareness for his mother's dying wishes.
A follower of The 812 saw the fundraiser and reached out to us hoping we could connect Shelly to Kat Von D.
We've since learned that Shelly has spent the majority of her life giving back to others. She was a teacher at Evansville Christian School from 1993 to 2021.
She also helped her son Nic when he battled Melanoma for 18 months.
"All I want, is to make her wishes come true. She cannot be appreciated enough as a mother and a beneficiary to the community," Nic said.
