Interested in starting a business? Bootcamp could lead to grants, office space

Takes place in Brookville starting in January


(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) –  Are you interested in starting a business or becoming an entrepreneur? 


There is an upcoming program that not only provides guidance, but could lead to grants.

 

Main Street Brookville is teaming up with the Indiana Small Business Development Center to host an 8-week Business Bootcamp.


The bootcamp will take place on Wednesday's starting in January is open to anyone in Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio, Switzerland and Union Counties. It is open to potential entrepreneurs that are adults or still in high school.


The course will provide comprehensive training as well as the opportunity to learn how to write a business plan. 


Participants will then have the opportunity to participate in the Start Up Competition where there will be a $5,000 first place prize, a $4,000 second place prize and a $3,000 third place prize. 


The competition will take place on March 12 and there will be a panel of judges. 


Are you interested in having a brick-and-mortar business in downtown Brookville?


Competitors from the Start Up Competition may be eligible for a significant grant. 


If your business is in the entertainment, retail or restaurant industries, you could apply for a 2-year rent/lease program for $12,000 to open your business at a downtown location. 


“The goal of the program is to encourage people to start small businesses but with a team of people who will help along the way,” organizers said.
