Jennings Co. authorities save choking baby

Officers report that the baby is doing great!

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A Jennings County infant is alive thanks to quick actions by law enforcement earlier this week.

Jennings County deputies and North Vernon officers responded to a home in Country Squire Lakes on Monday.

Police located a 15-day-old baby that was choking and was struggling to breathe.

Deputies immediately began tending to the infant and were successful in clearing the restricted airway.  After doing so, deputies closely monitored the infant until Rescue 20 arrived and took over treatment,” the sheriff’s department said.

The officers went back to the home on Thursday to check up on the baby and the mother. Police confirmed that the infant is doing great!

The mother also expressed appreciation to dispatchers who kept her calm during the tense moments, along with the first responders for their quick response time.
