Jennings Co. grad making fast impact for Michigan State

Graduated in Jennings County in 2024

(EAST LANSING, MI.) – Jennings County graduate Juliann Woodard has made an immediate impact with the Michigan State Spartans.

The freshman has come off the bench in six games and has scored 58 points so far.

She had a career-high 17 points against Detroit Mercy on Wednesday night.

Woodard’s play has been a surprise for her coaches and teammates early in the season. MSU forward Grace VanSlooten told ‘The State News’ that she hasn’t seen anything like it before.

"It’s a lot of fun every time she goes in. I mean, we know she’s going to give us a couple of threes. So it's really fun to watch. She works really hard and nobody I know deserves it more,” VanSlooten said

Woodard is the all-time scoring leader at Jennings County and was a 2024 McDonald’s All-American nominee.

The Spartans are 6-0 on the season and will play next at a tournament at the University of California before starting Big Ten play against Iowa on December 15.
