Katelyn Markham’s fiancé given max sentence

Her remains were found in Cedar Grove in 2011

(HAMILTON, Oh.) – The alleged killer of Katelyn Markham received a maximum sentence on Thursday.


Markham disappeared from her home in Fairfield, Ohio and her remains were found in the Cedar Grove area of Franklin County in 2011. 


Her death was a mystery for more than a decade before he fiance, John Carter, was arrested for murder in 2023. 


Carter pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in June in exchange for all charges being dropped. 


He was sentenced to 36 months in prison during the sentencing hearing in Butler County.
