Killer of 10-year-old girl to have case heard by Ohio’s top court

Amber Garrett was killed in 1991

(COLUMBUS, OH.) – The man convicted of killing a 10-year-old girl in 1991 will have his case heard by the Ohio Supreme Court next week.

Amber Garrett’s body was found along Jamison Creek Road in Dearborn County after being abducted from Harrison and missing for two days.

Jeffrey Allen Wogenstahl was convicted of kidnapping and murdering her. He is currently on Death Row in Ohio awaiting execution.

The Ohio Supreme Court will hear oral arguments from Wogenstahl on Tuesday.

Although Amber was kidnapped in Ohio, Wogenstahl plans to argue that the case should have been held in Indiana where her body was found.

He would presumably then have avoided the prosecutor misconduct that he encountered in Ohio; the outcome of his trial would likely then have been different,” according to the website called Justice for Jeffrey Wogenstahl.

Wogenstahl claims there was evidence withheld more than 30 years ago, however, Amber’s father, Robert, tells a far different story.

“I am telling the facts. I sat there the whole trial and the prosecutors had more evidence than they used. There is more than enough proof they were together," Robert Garrett said.

“He’s wasting time and government money and spinning his wheels. They are not going to overturn it,” Garrett added.

Robert and other family members came together on what would have been her 42nd birthday last year to unveil and dedicate a new memorial along Jamison Creek Road. Watch that video here.
