Knue family to continue Christmas gift tradition in Lawrenceburg

Updated: 7 minutes ago

Will take place Saturday afternoon

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A local family will spread Christmas cheer in honor of a loved one on Saturday.

13-year-old Eddie Knue, of Lawrenceburg, tragically passed away in 1992 and the family honors him through a heartfelt tradition.

The Knue family loads toys onto a trailer and then they walk the streets of Lawrenceburg.

They hand the toys to children, along with a small bag of candy and cozy set of hat and gloves. Each toy is age-appropriate.

The toys are purchased solely on donations and the family is grateful for the City of Lawrenceburg employees who drive the tractors that pull the trailers, and also firefighters and police officers who assist during the event.

“We invite everyone to come out and watch this magical event! Celebrate with us as we spread joy, honor Eddie’s memory, and make this season a little brighter for the kids in our community,” said Shelby Knue.

The 13th annual Edie Knue Toy Giveaway will take place in downtown Lawrenceburg at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 14.

The family says this unique Christmas event was inspired by a tradition that in the late 1980’s that brought Eddie a lot of joy.
