Lawrenceburg apartment fire under investigation

Fire happened early Thursday morning

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating an apartment fire that happened early Thursday morning. 


Lawrenceburg firefighters responded around 1:30 a.m. to the apartment complex located at 328 Elm Street.  


Firefighters say they saw smoke coming from the back of the 3-story building when they arrived. 


“The engine crew advanced a hose line to second floor rear apartment where they encountered heavy smoke and heat coming from the rear bedroom,” Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Johnnie Tremain said. 


Crews were able to extinguish the fire as all the occupants were displaced for the night 


The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is overseeing the investigation. 


Other agencies on scene included Greendale, Aurora, Bright, Whitewater, Miami Township, Aurora EMS, Lawrenceburg EMS, Lawrenceburg Utilities, Lawrenceburg Civil City, Lawrenceburg Police and the American Red Cross
