(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- A change is coming at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

Longtime promotors Dave and Kim Rudisell announced tonight they are stepping down at the end of this season.

The husband and wife have overseen operations at the Speedway since 2007.

"Over the last 17 years of running a racetrack, we have met so many wonderful people and have formed lifelong bonds that we will forever cherish," Kim Rudisell said.

The couple also mentioned the challenges that have came with changes in racing and entertainment over the past few years, which have impacted racetracks across the country.

"This pace is no longer sustainable for us," they added.

The surprise announcement has fans and racers curious about the future of the local racetrack.

The final race of this season is set for October 7.

Dave and Kim say they will continue to be active in Dearborn County but look forward to a slower pace of life.

Kim added, "Dave will continue at the ski slopes (as he has for the last 35 years) and, both of us will continue running the advertising agency & boutique."
