'She's Still With Me' was released last week
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – B.J. Kelley is honoring his beloved wife, Lisa, after she passed away last year.
The Batesville couple was married for more than 35 years and have two children, Connor and Emily, along with three grandchildren.
“Our marriage was the happiest years of my life. During that entire time, she was a pediatrician who saved and helped countless numbers of infants, toddlers and young children,” B.J. Kelly said.
Lisa passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on September 30, 2023.
B.J. works as an attorney and started playing music in college back in the 1980’s.
As the family continues to heal, he came up with the idea to write a song in her honor.
“I really wanted to do something to let everyone know the kind of person she was. I also wanted to do something for my kids and grandkids as a tribute to her,” he told The 812.
Kelley connected with accomplished guitarist Bryce Mullins, of Batesville, who provided assistance and inspiration during the process.
They went to a recording studio called Static Shack in Indianapolis which has served as the musical home for the Bob and Tom Radio Show for more than a half-century.
The song was recorded there as B.J. was on vocals, Mullins played guitar, Aimee Eisenman sang Harmony and Phillip Powers was on the drums.
B.J. also got assistance on the accordion and organ from Troye Kinnett, who has played with John Mellenkamp since 2005.
This song is titled ‘She’s Still With Me’ and is well-worth the listen and will certainly touch those who have suffered the loss of a partner or close family member.
