Local ALS foundation donates to Ball State program

Todd Siebert Memorial Foundation makes $20K donation

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The legacy of a Batesville man continues to live on while helping others who face a similar diagnosis.

51-year-old Todd Siebert passed away after a long battle with ALS in 2021.

His family and friends established the Todd Siebert Memorial Foundation, as a way to keep his memory alive while raising funds for others who fight the terminal disease.

The foundation has just made a $20,000 donation toward an ALS research project at Ball State.

The funds will be used to establish the project which will be led by Ball State’s Dr. Phil Smaldino, who is an associate professor of cell biology.

The goal of the project is to get one step closer to finding a cure for ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Earlier this month, the Todd Siebert Memorial Foundation announced a new scholarship for students planning to attend a trade school. Read more here.

The 812 first met Todd Siebert's family in August of 2022. Watch that story here:
